 Mornington Pier Physical Model Link

Mornington Pier, located on the eastern side of Port Phillip Bay was first constructed in the 1850’s and has since undergone a number of upgrades and extensions. During large wave events the structure is presently overtopped and has suffered damage. Parks Victoria propose to upgrade Mornington Pier by reducing wave overtopping and transmission to improve public safety and provide a new safe harbour behind the Pier during storm events.

Proposal for a Safe Harbour at Mornington

The proposed Safe Harbour is intended to protect moored vessels, boats using launching ramps, emergency services and commercial vessels from seas generated during storm events from the west to the north.

What new features are proposed

􀂄 A new public jetty

􀂄 About 170 pen berths for yachts

􀂄 A north facing wavescreen

􀂄 20-25 public and emergency berths

􀂄 A travel lift combined with a new wash down facility.

􀂄 Improved parking and access

􀂄 ‘Fore and aft’ moorings

􀂄 Swing moorings
