406 Emergency. Position. Indicator. Radio. Beacon.

From February 2009, the COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system will only process transmissions on the 406 Mhz frequency.
 
This means that the older Analogue 121.5 Mhz system is no longer in use and has been replaced by a new Digital 406 Mhz system.
121.5 Mhz Epirbs must be disposed of properly and replaced with a 406 Mhz epirb.
